Number of livestock in spring of 2017

• In year 2017 the number of cattle, pigs, poultry and sheep dropped from last year. The number of goats grew
• The number of cattle at start of May 2017 was 893,000, which is two percent less than a year ago
• The number of pigs went down from the previous year to about 1.13 million pigs.
• The poultry included altogether 12.7 million animals on 1,270 farms. There were 3.6 million chickens and 7.7 million broilers.
• There were about 155.000 sheep on 1,400 farms.
