Number of livestock in spring of 2016

In year 2016 the number of poultry, sheep, and goats grew from last year. The number of pigs and cattle dropped.
The number of cattle at start of May 2016 was 909,000, which is one percent less than a year ago
The number of pigs went slightly down from the previous year to about 1.23 million pigs. The number of sows fell by 6% during a year.
The poultry included altogether 13.4 million animals on 1,300 farms. There were 3.6 million chickens and 8.2 million broilers.
There were about 156.000 sheep on 1,470 farms.
