Number of cattle and pigs 1 December 2016

- The number of cattle at start of December was 887,250. The number of dairy cows was 275,375.
- The number of suckler cows increased, whereas that cows, heifers, bulls and calves decreased.
- The number of pigs decreased from the previous year to about 1.2 million pigs.
- The number of sows decreased by 7% from previous year.
