Number of livestock in spring of 2014

The number of cattle, poultry and sheep grew from last year. The number of pigs and horses on the farms dropped.
The number of cattle at start of May was 914,440. A total of 12,940 farms had cattle. The number of dairy cows was 285,250.
The poultry included altogether 12.6 million. There were 3.6 million hens and 7.3 million broilers.
The number of pigs decreased from the previous year to about 1.24 million pigs. The number of sows decreased by 4% from previous year.
There were about 138.000 sheep on 1,450 farms.
