Number of livestock in spring of 2016

• The number of poultry, sheep, and goats grew from last year. The number of pigs and cattle dropped.
• The number of cattle at start of May was 909,130, which is one percent less than a year ago
• The number of pigs went slightly down from the previous year to about 1.23 million pigs. The number of pig farms fell by a hundred, i.e. by 5% during a year.
• The poultry included altogether 12.4 million animals on 1000 farms. There were 3.6 million chickens and 7.2 million broilers.
• There were about 155.000 sheep on 1,400 farms.
