- At the beginning of May, cattle totalled 914,000, a year-on-year decrease by 1%. A total of 14,900 farms had cattle.
- The number of suckler cows increased by 3 per cent, while the number of dairy cows decreased slightly.
- 11,200 farms had dairy cows and the average herd size grew to 25 cows. There were 170 farms with more than 100 dairy cows.
