Milk Production by Area 2008

During the 2008/2009 quota period, milk production fell short of the country quota for the sixth consecutive year.
The average volume of milk supplied to dairies by each farm rose to 175,000 litres.
Milk production fell in almost all Employment and Economic Development Centres.
78 per cent of all milk was produced on area C farms and 22 per cent on area A and B farms.
Due to a consolidation of municipalities, Kiuruvesi lost its long-held title of largest milk producer to Kokkola.
