Meat Production by Area 2022

  • Pork production fell by 3% to 170 million kilos. Production fell in almost all ELY centres.
  • Pork production was highest in South Ostrobothnia (42 million kg) and in Southwest Finland (37 million kg). The largest pork producing municipalities were Huittinen, Uusikaarlepyy and Loimaa.
  • Beef production was 84 million kg, which is 2% less than in the previous year.
  • Beef production decreased in several regions of the ELY centres.  Beef production in Ostrobothnia, North Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and Satakunta was slightly higher than in the previous year. Beef production was highest in Kiuruvesi, Kuopio and Kurikka.
  • Sheep meat production was 1.23 million kilos, almost the same as in the previous year. The highest sheep meat production was in Southwest Finland (0.22 million kg) and Ostrobothnia (0.11 million kg).
