Approximately 11 per cent of all farms imported manure. This means that the number of importing farms was higher than that of exporting farms.
Dairy cattle and pig farms exported a total of 1.3 million tonnes of manure.
High volumes of manure were transferred between farms, particularly in the regions of ELY Centres of Southwest Finland, Southern Ostrobothnia and Ostrobothnia.
Approximately two million tons of manure were transported between farms.
Composting solid manure was the most common processing method to change the properties of manure. It was used on nearly four per cent of all farms.
Other methods, such as separation, aeration or fermentation, were used by less than 0.5 per cent of all farms.
The average proportion of processed manure from all manure on farms was two thirds or higher, depending on the method.
