  • Composting solid manure was the most common processing method to change the properties of manure. It was used on four per cent of all farms.
  • Approximately 70 per cent of cattle farms used pastures. Pastures were used on more than 70 per cent of dairy cattle farms and on less than 70 per cent on other cattle farms.
  • The pasture season was less than five months for dairy cattle and nearly six months for other cattle.
  • The daily time spent on pastures was approximately 12 hours for dairy cattle and 21 hours for other cattle.
  • Roughly 40 per cent of all cattle were able to walk around in the cowshed. Less than 40 per cent of dairy cattle and slightly more than 40 per cent of other cattle were able to walk around.
  • Nearly half of all henhouses were enriched cages. Barn henhouses accounted for 36 per cent.
  • The majority of piggeries were partly equipped with slatted floorings, and liquid manure was used as the manure processing method.
  • The sufficiency of solid and liquid manure stocks was nearly 11 months.
  • Less than ten per cent of all farms transferred manure to other farms, and manure was received by more than ten per cent of all farms.
  • The preliminary results are published at a national level. The final results will also be published by region and production sector in the spring of 2022.
