Livestock living conditions and manure storage 2016 (provisional)

Approximately seven per cent of all farms exported manure outside the farm. This figure is at the same level as in the previous statistics from 2010.
Solid manure and slurry were exported to an equal extent.
Approximately 11 per cent of all farms imported manure. This means that the number of importing farms was higher than that of exporting farms.
Approximately two million tons of manure were transported between farms.
Composting solid manure was the most common processing method to change the properties of manure. It was used on nearly four per cent of all farms.
Other methods, such as separation, aeration or fermentation, were used by less than 0.5 per cent of all farms.
The average proportion of processed manure from all manure on farms was two thirds or higher, depending on the method.
