Horticultural Statistics 2024: Energy Consumption in Greenhouse Enterprises

The total energy consumption of greenhouse companies was 1 802 GWh year 2024. There was a increase of 96 GWh compared to the year 2021.
Electricity consumption of greenhouse companies was 799 GWh year 2021. There was a increase of 179 GWh (+29%) compared to the year 2021.
Energy chips (251 GWh) was the most common heating fuel.
Purchased heat energy was 189 GWh and 58% of it was renewable wood/field biomass. Renewable energy accounted for a total of 45% of heating energy.
Consumption of natural gas fell to 27 GWh (-83%) but light and heavy fuel oil grew (+16 and +7 GWh).
