Horticultural Statistics 2018

  • In 2018, the total number of horticultural enterprises was 3,407
  • Outdoor cultivation area was 19,131 hectares and greenhouse area 393 hectares.
  • In terms of cultivation area, the most important outdoor vegetables were garden pea (4,717 ha), carrot (1,833 ha) and onion (1,254 ha).
  • The total harvest of outdoor vegetables amounted to 163 million kilos, of which 67 million kilos were carrots.
  • A harvest of berries was 18 million kilos. Strawberries accounted for 15 million kilos.
  • The amount of greenhouse vegetables produced was 90 million kilos, of which 45 million kilos were cucumber and 39 million kilos were tomatoes.
  • The cultivation area of ornamental plants in greenhouses totalled 120 hectares.
  • Apple production record was 7 million kilos.
