In 2009, the number of horticultural enterprises was 4,664.
The total area for outdoor production was 15,690 hectares and the total area for greenhouse production 441 hectares.
In terms of cultivated area, the major open-field vegetables were garden peas (2,546 ha), carrots (1,626 ha), onions (917 ha) and white cabbages (615 ha).
The carrot crop broke records, amounting to 70 million kilos. The open-field vegetable crop totalled 179 million kilos.
Greenhouse vegetable production amounted to about 72 million kilos, of which 38 million kilos were tomatoes and 29 million kilos were cucumbers.
Potted vegetable production amounted to about 74 million units.
The area under cut flower production decreased to 21 hectares.
A record-breaking 80 million flowering bulbs were grown.
