In February 2020, the amount of fish and fish products exported from Finland was approximately 8.5 million kilos. The value of exports was EUR 19.2 million. The volume of exports was 0.5 million kilos lower, but the value of exports was 5.7 million euros higher than in February of the previous year.
The amount of fish exported for human consumption was 7.9 million kilos (value EUR 18.8 million). The amount of products to be used for non-human purposes was 0.6 million kilos.
The amount of fish and fish products imported to Finland increased by almost 0.2 million kilos from the corresponding period of the previous year. At the same time, the value of imports increased by EUR 7.7 million. The volume of imports was just under 7.2 million kilos and the value of imports was EUR 41,5 million.
The amount of fish imported for human consumption was 7 million kilos with the value EUR 41.4 million.
3.1 million kilos of fresh whole salmon were imported from Norway in February. It was 0.2 million kilos more than in February of the previous year. As such, 2.1 million kilos of imported salmon were further exported to Europe. 0.5 million kilos of fresh salmon and trout were imported as fillets or other fish meat.
About 60 percent (4.2 million kilos) of the total number of products imported for human consumption came from Norway.
