Foreign trade in fish, 1/2020 (preliminary)

  • In January 2019, the amount of fish and fish products exported from Finland was 8 million kilos. The value of exports was EUR 17.5 million. The amount of exports increased 0,5 million kilos, while the value decreased EUR 1 million, from January the year before.
  • The amount of fish exported for human consumption was 6.6 million kilos with the value  EUR 16.7 million). The amount of products to be used for other purposes was 1,3 million kilos.
  • The amount of fish and fish products imported to Finland decreased by 0.8 million kilos, and totaled 6.8 million kilos. The value of import was EUR 43 million in January. 
  • The amount of fish imported for human consumption was 6,7 million kilos with the value EUR 42 million.
  • In January, the amount of imports of fresh whole salmon from Norway was 3 million kilos. The value of imports decreased almost one million kilos from the year before. The amount of exports of fresh whole salmon, imported from Norway and exported to other European countries, was 1.9 million kilos. The amount of fresh salmon, trout and other fish products imported totaled 0,5 million kilos. The amount was tenfold compared with January 2018.
  • 56% (3.7 million kilos) of the total amount of fish imported for human consumption originated from Norway.
