Second advance estimate of 2012 harvest

Anticipated crops for 2012 in Finland, 24 August:

• The anticipated grain harvest is 3.8 billion kilos.
• The total harvest for wheat is estimated at 900 million kilos and that for rye at 62 million kilos. The harvest for bread grains – wheat and rye – will be 9 percent smaller than last year.
• The total harvests for barley, oats and mixed grains are estimated at 1.7 billion kilos, 1.2 billion and 64 million kilos, respectively. The harvest for feed grains – barley, oats and mixed grains – will be 10 percent larger than last year.
• The harvest for potatoes is estimated at 600 million kilos, which is 10 percent less than last year.
• The harvest for sugar beet is estimated at 410 million kilos, which is 40 percent less than last year.
