First advance estimate of 2012 harvest

Anticipated crops for 2012 in Finland, 16 July:

• The anticipated grain harvest is 3.8 billion kilos. If realised, the total harvest will be 90 million kilos more than last year.
• The total harvest for wheat is estimated at 890 million kilos and that for rye at 60 million kilos. The harvest for bread grains – wheat and rye – will be 10 percent smaller than last year.
• The total harvests for barley, oats and mixed grains are estimated at 1.6 billion kilos, 1.1 billion and 65 million kilos, respectively. The harvest for feed grains – barley, oats and mixed grains – will be 7 percent larger than last year.
• The harvest for turnip rape is estimated at 70 million kilos, which is 21 percent less than last year.
• The harvest for sugar beet is estimated at 420 million kilos, which is 38 percent less than last year.
