First advance estimate of 2013 harvest

Anticipated crops for 2013 in Finland, 15 July:

• The anticipated grain harvest is 3.9 billion kilos. If realised, the total harvest will be 0.3 billion kilos more than last year.
• The total harvest for wheat is estimated at 810 million kilos and that for rye at 32 million kilos. The harvest for bread grains – wheat and rye – will be 11 percent smaller than last year.
• The total harvests for barley, oats and mixed grains are estimated at 1.8 billion kilos, 1.2 billion and 70 million kilos, respectively. The harvest for feed grains – barley, oats and mixed grains – will be 14 percent larger than last year.
• The harvest for turnip rape is estimated at 51 million kilos, which is 4 percent more than last year.
• The harvest for potatoes is estimated at 590 million kilos, which is 20 percent more than last year.
• The harvest for sugar beet is estimated at 400 million kilos, which is about the same as last year.
• The harvest for peas is estimated at 10 million kilos, which is 11 percent more than last year.
• The harvest for broad bean is estimated at 20 million kilos, which is 12 percent less than last year.
