Crop Production Statistics and the quality of the grain harvest 2012, advance information

  • The total grain harvest in 2012, i.e. 3.7 billion kg, is similar to that in 2011. The bread grain harvest decreased by about 8% and the harvest of feed grain increased by about 4%
  • The area used for turnip rape cultivation decreased by one-third from the previous year, and about 20% of the cultivation area was destroyed. The total production of turnip rape decreased from about 90 million kilograms to 50 million kg. The total production of rape decreased from about 25 million kg to 24 million kg
  • The potato harvest decreased by 30% due to a smaller area being used for cultivation, extensive crop damage and poor yields per hectare. The harvest is the worst in more than 30 years, and amounts to about 470 million kg.
  • The total sugar beet harvest decreased by37 % from 2011 and is about 420 million kg.
  • The total horse bean harvest increased by 20% and its total production increased to 21 million kg. The total pea harvest decreased from 12 million kg to 8.5 kg.
  • The quality of the grain harvest: The protein concentration of all grain types remain smaller than average
