Second advance estimate of 2010 harvest

Published 1.2.2010

The anticipated crops for 2010 in Finland, 25 August:

  • The anticipated grain crops, 2.9 billion kilograms, would be the lowest in the decade. From last year, the grain crops will decrease no less than 33%. The decrease of crops is mainly attributable to the decreased cultivation area for grains (-16%).
  • The 1,400 million kilogram decrease in the grain crops is mainly in barley (-920 million kilograms) but the barley crop (-300 million kilograms) and the wheat crop (-220 million kilograms) will decrease from 2009.
  • The rye crop was small last year, and this year it will probably increase to 69 million kilograms (+65%).
  • The turnip rape crop will probably increase 50% and the oilseed rape crop 5%. The current anticipated crop for turnip rape is almost 180 million kilograms and for oilseed rape 23 million kilograms.
