In August, a total of 4.8 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. Compared to last year's August, the removal volume was one-fifth or 1.2 million cubic metres lower. In January-August, a total of 38.1 million cubic metres of industrial wood was harvested. This removal volume was down 4% from the previous year and down 6% from the five-year average.

  • Sawlogs accounted for 2.2 million m³ and pulpwood for 2.6 million m³ of the industrial roundwood removals.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 3.6 million cubic metres, down by 26% from the year before.
  • The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1.2 million cubic metres, up by 5% from the year before.
  • Energywood removals totalled 504,000 cubic metres, with delimbed stems and whole trees comprising 42% of this amount. These removal volumes were significantly lower than those observed in August of the previous year.
