In August 2022, a total of 6.0 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was the same as a previous year and 8% up from the five-year August average.

  • Sawlog removals were 2.8 million and pulpwood removals 3.1 million cubic metres. Compared with the average in August in the previous five years, sawlog removals were 12% and pulpwood removals 4% higher.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 4.8 million cubic metres, down by 3% from the year before.
  • The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1.1 million cubic metres, up by 16% from the year before.
  • Energywood removals totalled 941,000 cubic metres, up by 13% from the year before. About half of the energywood was delimbed stems and whole-trees.
  • In January-August, 39.9 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was down 4% from the previous year and 2% from the five-year average. Compared with the average in the previous five years, sawlog removals were higher 7% and pulpwood removals 8% lower.
