Commercial fellings, 5/2024

In May 2024, 3.2 million cubic meters of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This volume represents an 8% decrease compared to May of the previous year and a 15% decrease compared to the average for the preceding five years. From January to May, a total of 25.3 million cubic meters of industrial wood was harvested. This was 5% percent less than the previous year and 5% percent less than the average for the preceding five years.

  • The removals of sawlogs were 1.7 million cubic metres and pulpwood removals 1.5 million cubic metres.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 2.3 million cubic metres, which was 6% less than in the previous year.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests were 0.8 million cubic metres, down 12% on the previous year.
  • Energywood removals was 419,000 cubic metres. Of this amount 34% were delimbed stems and whole-trees.
