Innovations in organic farming: what they are, how they become adopted and how they can add value

Innovate Organics

Farming faces environmental challenges, low profitability and attractiveness among potential young farmers. Organic farming however interests the youth and current non-farm families, and is high on the policy agenda: the EU aims to reach 25% share for organic farming by 2030. Our recent research shows that European consumers view organic farming very positively, but the positive perception hasn’t been valorised and organic farming faces economic, technical and biological challenges compromising its competitiveness. This project aims to investigate innovations that can elevate organic business, their barriers and enablers, and approaches to attract new entrepreneurs to succeed in organic farming.
