Roundwood purchases from non-industrial private forests amounted to 41.4 million cubic metres in 2016. The roundwood trade was very active during the last year.
In 2016, the average stumpage price for pine logs was EUR 53.3 per cubic metre, and the price paid for spruce logs was EUR 55.3 per cubic metre. The stumpage prices for pine and spruce pulpwood were EUR 15.5 per cubic metre and EUR 17.3 per cubic metre, respectively.
The real stumpage price level for roundwood increased by a little over one per cent from the previous year (deflated using wholesale price index, 1949=100). Price level was also a little higher than in the preceding five year period.
The roadside price for pine pulpwood was EUR 27.9 per cubic metre, while the price for spruce pulpwood was EUR 30.4, and birch pulpwood EUR 28.5 per cubic metre. The real price level of pulpwood increased by one per cent from the previous year.
The data collected for the statistics expanded in the beginning of 2016. The data collection is extended to forest management associations and to some new medium-sized forest industry companies. Therefore there is a break in the homogeneity of the time series.
