Trade of energywood, 3rd quarter 2016
• Share of logging residues was close to half of energywood sales in the third quarter of 2016. The average price paid for it was EUR 3.2 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 14.2 in delivery sales.
• In standing sales the price of logging residues were up by 2 per cent compared to the previous quarter and in delivery sales the price were down by 8 per cent.
• Two fifths of the wood purchased as raw material for forest chips was pruned stemwood. This was the most valuable type of energywood; the average price paid for it was EUR 4.4 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 23.1 in delivery sales.
• In standing sales the unit price of pruned stems increased EUR 1.1, or by 35 per cent compared to the previous quarter. In delivery sales, the price was up by one per cent.
• The extent of data collection of statistic fluctuates. Excluding that, the amount of energywood purchased both in standing sales and in delivery sales decreased by more than one fourth compared with the corresponding period of last year.
The recorded prices do not include government subsidy and the prices may also be negative. Subsidy payments have been rejected after 6.5.2016, but were received until that by a considerable portion of pruned and unpruned stems.
