Trade of energywood, 2nd quarter 2019

  • Half of the wood purchased as raw material for forest chips was pruned stems and two fifths was logging residues in the second quarter of 2019.
  • The recorded energywood trade increased only three per cent from the first quarter and was two-fifths smaller to the previous year.
  • The average price paid for pruned stems was EUR 3.8 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 27.4 in delivery sales. In standing sales the unit price was down by eight per cent and in delivery sales it was up by seven per cent compared to the previous quarter.
  • For logging residues it were paid in standing sales EUR 2.8 per cubic metre and EUR 17.7 in delivery sales. In standing sales the price decreased by 12 per cent and in delivery sales increased by five per cent.

Prices and volumes of logging residues and total energywood in delivery sales for the whole of 2018 and for the third and the fourth quarters of 2018 have been revised 21 May 2019.

The trade statistics are based on the wood prices written into wood trade contracts between buyers and sellers. Other additional pricing components and forest services connected to wood trade are not included in the statistics.

The recorded prices do not include government subsidy and the prices may also be negative. Subsidy payments were rejected 7.5.2016–19.4.2017, after which applications have been accepted again.
