Trade of energywood, 2nd quarter 2018

  • Share of logging residues was half of energywood sales in the second quarter of 2018.
  • The average price paid for it was EUR 4.0 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 15.1 in delivery sales. In standing sales the price were up by 22 per cent and in delivery sales four per cent compared to the previous quarter.
  • Just over one third of the wood purchased as raw material for forest chips was pruned stemwood.
  • This was the most valuable type of energywood; the average price paid for it was EUR 4.3 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 23.7 in delivery sales. In standing sales the unit price decreased by 17 per cent and in delivery sales by one per cent compared to the previous quarter.
  • In all 1.2 million cubic metres of energywood was included in the statistics. It was two fifths more than on the previous quarter and one fifth more than the year before. The greater part of increase was from standing sales.

The recorded prices do not include government subsidy and the prices may also be negative. Subsidy payments were rejected 7.5.2016–19.4.2017, after which applications have been accepted again.
