Trade of energywood, 1st quarter 2018

  • Half of the wood purchased as raw material for forest chips was logging residues in the first quarter of 2018.
  • The average price paid for it was EUR 3.2 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 14.6 in delivery sales. In standing sales the price were up by four per cent and in delivery sales it were down by six per cent compared to the previous quarter.
  • Share of pruned stems was two fifths of energywood sales.
  • This was the most valuable type of energywood; the average price paid for it was EUR 5.2 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 24.0 in delivery sales.
  • In standing sales the unit price of pruned stems increased by 29 per cent and in delivery sales by two per cent compared to the previous quarter.
  • The amount of energywood included in the statistics declined approximately by one fourth compared to the previous quarter. Compared with the corresponding period of last year it were up by few per cent.

The recorded prices do not include government subsidy and the prices may also be negative. Subsidy payments were rejected 7.5.2016–19.4.2017, after which applications have been accepted again.
