Trade of energywood, 2nd quarter 2015

Published 8.10.2015
  • More than half of the energywood purchased in the second quarter of 2015 as raw material for forest chips was pruned stemwood. This was the most valuable type of energywood; the average price paid for it was EUR 2.6 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 25.2 in delivery sales. These prices do not include government subsidy.
  • In standing sales the price of pruned stems decreased EUR 1.3, or as much as 34 per cent compared to the previous quarter. In delivery sales, the unit price was up by one per cent.
  • Logging residues accounted for more than one third of energywood sales. The average price paid for it was EUR 3.5 per cubic metre in standing sales and EUR 16.0 in delivery sales. These prices were 13 and 3 per cent higher than in the previous quarter.

The recorded prices do not include government subsidy, which was received by a considerable portion of pruned and unpruned stems. The government subsidy system for the management of young forests, and wood harvested in the process, changed during Q2/2015.

Due to an error detected by the Natural Resources Institute in the production process of statistics on energywood trade, all regional data on trade volumes will be abandoned. The volumes by energywood type will only be published on the national level by trade method, and in total.
