The area of agricultural land in use was just under 2.3 million hectares in 2024, according to the preliminary statistics. Of this, about 2 million hectares were arable land. Almost half of Finland's arable land is devoted to cereals and about a third to fodder grass.
The areas under barley, rye and winter wheat decreased the most, while oats and fallow increased. The area under fallow increased especially due to an increase in the area under green manure roots.
The cultivated areas for 2024 are based on the arable crop aid application of 18 June 2024.
