Utilised Agricultural Area 2016, regional preliminary data

Arable areas in 2016 based on the situation on 30 June 2016.

In 2016, the most significant changes in the use of the arable area in Finland (2.3 million hectares);

• the cultivated area of cereals, 1,108,000 hectares, remains half of the entire area, but will decrease by 30,000 hectares
• the area under oats, 331,000 hectares, will increase by 8%, but area under wheat (223,000 ha), barley (486,000 ha) and rye (26,000 ha) will decrease by 10%, 5% and 16%, respectively
• the area under broad beans (16,500 ha) will increase by 24%
• the area under turnip rape and oilseed rape (62,000 ha) will increase by 9%
