Utilised Agricultural Area 2010, preliminary data

The arable land areas for 2010 are only advance information on 3 June 2010. The next time the areas will be specified on 22 June 2010. Situation on 3 June 2010:

  • Finland’s 2.3 million hectare arable land area’s major changes in 2010 are transition from grain (-169,000 ha) to oilseeds and protein crops (+ 85,000 ha) and fallow (+63,000 ha).
  • Grain cultivation area, 1,034,000 hectares, is the smallest in 15 years, if it is realised.
  • Barley area, 447,000 hectares, will decrease a quarter from 2009.
  • Turnip rape area, 137,000 hectares, will double from 2009. The area is the largest in the 100 years of history in arable land statistics.
  • Broad bean expectedly increased its popularity. The area will be quadruple to approximately 10,000 hectares.
