Use of Crops on Farms 2009 - 2010

The statistics on the use of crops on farms for 2009 – 2010 are based partly on sampled surveys and partly on calculated data. The data for 2009 (1 July – 31 December 2009) are based on farm surveys, but for the 2010 figures (1 January – 30 June 2010) farms were asked only for their stockpiles as of 30 June 2010. Other data in the 2010 statistics were calculated. The statistics are from the crop year 1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010.

• On 30 June 2010, the total grain stocks held on farms were in excess of 1,150 million kilos.
• The largest stocks were those of barley, almost 520 million kilos.
• During 1 July 2009 - 30 June 2010, the total volume of grain sold from farms was over 2,800 million kilos
• During the crop year, about 1,500 million kilos of grain was used as animal feed on farms.
