Stumpage earnings 2014

  • In 2014, forestry owners' gross stumpage earnings amounted to more than EUR 1.92 billion. Earnings from private forests totalled EUR 1.62 billion, and those from state forests administered by Metsähallitus totalled EUR 0.30 billion.
  • In real terms, earnings from non-industrial private forestry increased by slightly under one per cent on the previous year, but remained three per cent lower than during the preceding 10-year period. In the forestry industry and for the state, revenues dropped by a few per cent, remaining seven per cent lower than during the preceding 10-year period.
  • Spruce was the most important tree species in terms of income (45%), and spruce logs the most important assortment (37%). The most important pulpwood assortment was pine pulpwood (12%). Sawtimber accounted for 70 per cent of the earnings.
  • The share of stumpage earnings in delivery sales for non-industrial private forestry increased by three percentage points, to 15 per cent.
