Structure of agricultural and horticultural enterprises 2014

• There were 52,775 agricultural and horticultural enterprises in Finland in 2014. The number of farms decreased by 1,600 from 2013.
• The average utilised agricultural area of the farms was 43 hectares.
• Average size of farms is 1.5 hectares more than year before.
• One-third of arable land is rented.
• The average age of farmers on privately owned farms was 50.6 years.
• Farmers on livestock farms are younger than the average.
• Grain growing was the most popular production line, chosen by 36% of farms.
