Number of livestock in spring of 2015

The number of cattle at start of May was 914,830. A total of 12,440 farms had cattle.
The number of suckler cows and calves increased whereas that of dairy cows, heifers and bulls decreased.
The poultry included altogether 11.8 million at start of April. There were 3.5 million hens and 6.8 million broilers.
There were 1.24 million pigs. The classification has changed from the year 2015. Only the category 'Pigs total' is nearly comparable with earlier years
There were about 155.000 sheep
