Milk and milkproducts statistics 2024

Milk production fell by just over 1% last year to 2 145 million litres. The number of milk producers fell by around 8% over the past year. 

  • In 2024, 2 145 million litres of milk were produced, down just over 1% on 2023, while dairy milk production was 2 103 million litres.
  • The number of milk producers fell by 8% over the year. At the end of the year there were around 3 880 milk producers.
  • Organic milk production was just under 67 million litres, down 9% on the previous year. At the end of the year there were 92 organic milk producers.

Production volumes of dairy products

Compared to the previous year in 2024:

  • Production of fresh products decreased by 1 %
    • Milk -1%
    • Buttermilk -3%
    • Cream -3%
    • Sour cream products -1%
    • Curd milk 0 %
    • Yoghurts -2 %
    • Other fresh products +2 %
  • Butter production was almost the same as in the previous year
  • Cheese production fell by 2%
