Meat Production by Area 2024

Beef production was highest in Kuopio, pork in Huittinen and sheep meat in Salo.

  • In 2024, 87 million kilos of beef were produced, around 1% more than in the previous year. The largest growth were in  North Ostrobothnia and South Ostrobothnia, where beef production is highest.
  • Pork production also increased by about 1% to 161 million kilos. Pork production is highly concentrated in South Ostrobothnia, Southwest Finland and Ostrobothnia. These regions accounted for almost 64% of pork production.
  • Sheepmeat production continued to decline, reaching around 1 million kilos. The highest production of sheepmeat was in Southwest Finland.
