Land purchase prices 2021

Agricultural and horticultural enterprises paid on average EUR 9 009 per hectare for agricultural land. In ten years, the average purchase price of agricultural land has increased 9 per cent in whole Finland.

  • Based on information by major regions (NUTS2), the purchase prices were highest in Southern Finland at EUR 10 348 and Western Finland at EUR 10 212 per hectare. The purchase prices of agricultural land were lowest in Northern and Eastern Finland, EUR 6 244 per hectare.
  • In ten years, the purchase prices have increased 9 % in the whole of Finland. The purchase prices vary from year to year, typically from EUR 300 to EUR 600 per hectare.
  • The data on land purchase prices is based on the National Land Survey of Finland’s purchase price statistics. The dataset includes purchases of unbuilt arable land that have been confirmed by a public purchase witness and cover an area of at least two hectares. Transactions between relatives have not been taken into account.
  • Land purchase prices are calculated by major region (NUTS2), and they are weighted by the total agricultural land area in the area in question (method defined by Eurostat).
