Horticultural Statistics 2017

  • In 2017, the total number of horticultural enterprises was 3,729
  • Outdoor cultivation area was 19,341 hectares and greenhouse area 389 hectares.
  • In terms of cultivation area, the most important outdoor vegetables were garden pea (4,037 ha), carrot (1,762 ha) and onion (1,191 ha).
  • The total harvest of outdoor vegetables amounted to 167 million kilos, of which 62 million kilos were carrots.
  • A harvest of berries was 17 million kilos. Strawberries accounted for 14 million kilos.
  • The amount of greenhouse vegetables produced was 87 million kilos, of which 43 million kilos were cucumber and 39 million kilos were tomatoes.
  • The cultivation area of ornamental plants in greenhouses totalled 121 hectares.
  • Apple production record was 6,7 million kilos.
