Horticultural Statistics 2013

In 2013, there were 3,859 horticultural enterprises. There was a decrease of 191 enterprises (–5%) compared to the previous year.
The outdoor production area was the same as in 2012, that is, 15,729 hectares, and the greenhouse area was 392 hectares (–2%).
In terms of area, the most important outdoor vegetables were peas (2,783 hectares), carrots (1,582 hectares) and onions (1,113 hectares).
The outdoor vegetable harvest was 176 million kilos, of which 71 million kilos were carrots.
In total, 16 million kilos of berries were produced in an area of 5,967 hectares. The share of strawberries was 13 million kilos in an area of 3,368 hectares.
Greenhouse vegetable production was 79 million kilos, of which 38 million kilos were tomatoes and 36 million kilos were cucumbers.
A record quantity of potted lettuce was produced: 77 million pots. The total quantity of potted vegetables produced was 97 million pots.
Ornamental plant production occupied an area of 128 hectares in greenhouses. The share of cut flowers and foliage was seven hectares of this area.
