Foreign trade in fish, 7/2020 (preliminary)

  • In July 2020, about 7.1 million kilos of fish and fish products were exported from Finland, which was worth EUR 12.2 million. The number of kilograms of fish exported increased by 63 per cent compared to July of the previous year, by about 2.7 million kilograms. The value of exports increased by EUR 2.8 million.
  • The amount of products exported for human consumption was 5.2 million kilos, worth 10.4 million kilos. euros. The volume of exports was 1.8 million kilos higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, while the value of exports increased by 1.7 million euros at the same time. 1.9 million kilograms were exported for non-human consumption.
  • The volume of imports of fish and fish products decreased by 0.3 million kilograms in July compared to July of the previous year. At the same time, the value of imports decreased by about EUR 5.8 million. The volume of imports of fish and fish products was 7.3 million kilograms and the value of imports was 33.2 million euros.
  • The volume of products imported for human consumption was 6.9 million kilos and the value was EUR 32.9 million. 0.4 million kilos were imported for non-human consumption.
  • In July, about 3.2 million kilos of fresh whole salmon were imported from Norway. It was just under 0.4 million kilos more than in July of the previous year. As such, 1.2 million kilos of imported salmon were further exported to Europe.
  • 65% (4.5 million kg) of the total number of products imported for human consumption came from Norway.
