• In 2013, about 70% of Finland’s fields and gardens had underground drainage, while 20% had open ditches and 10% were undrained.
• Of the area with underground drainage, 5% had control drainage (i.e. the water level in the soil could be regulated).
• Refurbishing was required for 10% of the area with underground drain-age and 27% of the area with open ditches.
• In 2013, farms had a total of 8.9 million cubic metres in grain storage capacity.
• Farms increased their cereal storage capacity by 20% between 2007 and 2013.
