  • About a half of the arable area is tilled and/or sown during the year.
  • Autumn ploughing is used as basic tillage in almost half of the tilled/sown area, and conservation tillage is used in one fourth of the area.
  • Direct sowing on non-tilled soil was carried out in 13 per cent of the tilled/sown area.
  • One fifth of the fields remain bare over the winter (mainly ploughed).
  • Monoculture, i.e. the continuous cultivation of the same plant species, is most common on pig farms.
  • Manure was applied on one fourth of the arable area during the year.
  • Almost all manure is injected or incorporated into soil after spreading.
