Estimated area sown to winter crops 2021

The estimated area sown with winter wheat increased to 105,500 hectares (+90%).
The estimated area sown with winter rye was 27,300 hectares (+50%).
The area sown with winter rape and-turnip rape increased to 10,000 hectares (+160%).
The area sown with organic winter rye was 6,300 hectares and organic winter wheat 4,400 hectares.
Direct seeding was used for 16% of winter wheat, representing 16,900 hectares of the total area sown with winter wheat.
Direct seeding was used for 10% of winter rye, representing 2,700 hectares of the total area sown with winter rye.
The estimated area sown to winter crops was asked from farms during Luke's crop production survey, covering 6,100 farms. The sown area will be specified next June when sown areas entered by farms in the rural business register of the Finnish Food Authority.
