Second advance estimate of 2022 harvest, 19 September

After two weaker harvest years, Finland’s cereal harvest will return to an average level in 2022. According to Luke’s second harvest estimate, the cereal harvest will be nearly 3.6 million tons. The estimated oat harvest will be one-fifth above than the ten-year average, whereas the rye harvest is expected to be almost a fifth smaller. The barley harvest is expected to be a tenth smaller than average.

The 2022 crop estimate on 19 September from Finnish fields compared to the previous year:

  • Grain harvest total 3.55 million tons (+37%)
    • Barley 1.37 million tons (+33%)
    • Oats 1.21 million tons (+53%)
    • Wheat 0.87 million tons (+28%)
    • Rye 0.07 million tons (+4%)
  • Turnip rape and rape total 56,000 tons (+37%)
  • Potatoes 552,000 tons (-1%)
  • Peas 58,000 tons (+111%)
  • Broad bean 20,000 tons (+69%)

The crop production statistics will be expanded and further specified on 24 November, when Luke will publish regional crop production data based on data obtained directly from farms.
