Organic production 2008 and use on farms

The total production of organic grain fell on 2007.
In 2008, a total of 76 million kilos of organic grain were produced, representing 2 per cent of Finland’s total grain production.
16 million kilos of organic bread grain (wheat and rye) were produced – 2 million kilos less than in 2007.
59 million kilos of organic feed grain (barley, oats and mixed grain) were produced – almost 4 million kilos less than in 2007.
The majority of organic grain was used as organic on farms or sold as organic grain.
74 per cent of bread grain (wheat and rye) went for organic use compared to only 58 per cent of feed grain (barley, oats and mixed grain).
