First advance estimate of 2026 harvest, 17 August

The estimated grain yield of about 3.2 million tons in 2026 is almost average in a ten-year time review. The barley harvest estimate is 14% lower than average. The estimate for oat harvest is about 4% higher than the oat harvest of the last 10 years. The rye harvest estimate is 21% lower than average. If successful, the pea crop will once again be the largest in statistical history, with a record-high crop area in recent years.

Anticipated crops for 2026 in Finland, 17 August:

  • Grain harvest total 3.2 million tons (-6%)
    • Barley 1.15 million tons (-5%)
    • Oats 1.10 million tons (-2%)
    • Wheat 0.83 million tons (-15%)
    • Rye 0.07 million tons (-22%)
  • Turnip rape and rape total 90,000 tons (+48%)
  • Peas 115,000 tons (+25%)
  • Broad bean 22,000 tons (+74%)
